Synced lyrics in Musique
Follow the words as you listen on macOS, Windows or Linux. Musique supports line and word-by-word lyrics alongside your Spotify library.
Line timing and word-by-word lyrics
Synced lyrics follow the position of the playing track. Line timing moves through each lyric line; word-by-word timing follows individual words when that timing data is available. Musique supports both, so the result depends on the lyrics available for the song.
You can view lyrics beside the album view or use the immersive lyrics view. The Musique screenshots show both layouts. Lyrics availability varies by track, recording and provider.
Where do the lyrics come from?
The app searches multiple providers, including LRCLIB, Apple Music, Musixmatch, NetEase, QQ Music, Kugou, AMLL, BetterLyrics and Spotify. The project README lists the supported sources. A provider may have plain lyrics, line timing or word timing for a particular track.
Musique also supports romanization for Japanese and Chinese lyrics. Romanization represents pronunciation using Latin characters; it is different from a translation of the song.
Do synced lyrics require Spotify Premium?
Musique supports synced lyrics for both free and Premium accounts. Premium accounts stream through a patched librespot core. Free accounts use YouTube Music for playback, with Spotify library and track metadata.
A free account does not gain Spotify Premium streaming by installing Musique. Lyrics and timing still depend on the track and the available provider data.
Why are lyrics missing or out of sync?
A song may have no matching lyrics, or a provider may have text without timing. Different recordings, live versions and remasters can also have different durations. A match for one recording may not line up with another.
If you encounter a problem, check the song title, artist and recording version, then check that you are using the latest Musique release. When reporting it, include a link to the track, your operating system, Musique version and whether the lyrics are missing or the timing is wrong.
