About Musique
Musique is an independent, free and open source Spotify desktop client by CodingBoyBlah. This site is the download and information hub for the CodingBoyBlah/Musique project.
Which Musique project is this?
This Musique is the Spotify client maintained in CodingBoyBlah/Musique on GitHub. It supports macOS, Windows and Linux and is separate from other applications that share the Musique name.
The developer's public profile is CodingBoyBlah. Source code, release history and issue reports are available in the repository.
What is Musique built with?
The desktop app uses Rust and Tauri 2 with a React and TypeScript interface. A local SQLite database caches library data. Authentication tokens and the client secret stay in the operating system keyring.
Playback for Premium accounts uses a patched librespot core. Free accounts play through YouTube Music. The app includes synced lyrics, podcasts, Spotify Connect and Jam, dynamic accent colors, OS media controls, Last.fm scrobbling and Discord Rich Presence.
Open source and licensing
Musique is released under the MIT license. The vendored librespot code retains its own MIT license. You can inspect the code, report issues or contribute through GitHub.
The project credits librespot for the Spotify protocol client, LRCLIB for synced lyrics and Cider as an inspiration. See the repository README for contributor and testing credits.
Is Musique affiliated with Spotify?
No. Musique is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Spotify. The reverse-engineered librespot protocol is against Spotify's Terms of Service. The project is provided as-is for educational purposes. Spotify is a trademark of Spotify AB.
